After several months in Afghanistan for his second tour of duty, Issac Jackson came home to Lathrop on Tuesday. There were no joyous hugs from family members; there was no excited chatter and exchanging of news. Instead, there was a flag-draped casket and a stunned community that wept with the bereaved family.
Army Sergeant Issac Brandon Jackson lost his life on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, in Arghandab Valley, Afghanistan. Sgt. Jackson and seven other American soldiers were on patrol near the Pakistan border, when unconventional homemade bombs knows as improvised explosive devices, or IED’s exploded near their vehicle. Out of the seven, only one soldier survived.
Jackson, who was 27, served in the 5th Stryker Brigade out of Fort Lewis, Washington, with the 1-17th Infantry Battalion, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
